Meet Your Policy Pitch Night Finalists!

Five community members will have the opportunity to “pitch” their policy idea in front of three City Council Members at our second annual “Policy Pitch Night” co-hosted with City Councilmember P.G. Sittenfeld, August 8th at UC's 1819 Innovation Center.

After receiving close to 30 online submissions, a group of grassroots leaders and community members scored the entries to determine the list of finalists.

The list of finalists and their ideas:

Chelsie Walter: Tenants facing eviction should have a right to an attorney.

Justin Ogilby: Pedestrian crosswalks near schools and business districts should be raised.

Kai Stoudemire: Require city-owned properties to have lactation-friendly areas for breastfeeding moms.

Leon Washington: Eliminating considering marjiuana charges and use in the City’s hiring process.

Mike Moroski, Provide tax “abatements” for long time residents of newly “hot” neighborhoods with rising property taxes.

The finalists will be given up to 5 minutes to pitch their policy idea. Council Members Greg Landsman and Jeff Pastor will be joining host Council Member Sittenfeld as panelists during the event. Each audience member and Council Member will cast their vote for their favorite idea to select the winner.

The winner will have all three City Council Members try and champion their policy at City Hall!

Come out and show these community members your support!
