We’re so excited to have you on the Cohear team! How did you first hear about Cohear and what was your initial impression?
I first heard of Cohear through Handshake. I was looking for a Spring internship and came across this position. My initial impression was that this is a great initiative that is taking into account the direct effects of the services being provided, or lack thereof.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background and studies?
I am a Senior studying Psychology with a minor in Human Capital Management and Leadership (Human Relations essentially). My research is in race-based biases and how that affects the quality of health care an individual receives, specifically black individuals. I have held numerous executive positions on my college campus. My current ones being the co-modeling director of Miami University Fashion & Design (where we host one of the largest student run fashion shows in the nation), and the Internal Audit chair for the Zeta Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
What are you most excited for in your role at Cohear?
I am most excited for potentially getting to sit in on a focus group. I understand with covid there are restrictions, and the groups may usually occur outside of office hours but I would love to join one if i have availability in my schedule.
Is there anything about Cohear’s work that you find most surprising or enjoyable?
Something that I find enjoyable about Cohear so far is how welcoming everyone is. And this may sound cliche, but being in my first morning meeting it felt like I was already part of the team. Everyone was so open to schedule a time to chat or even talk outside of office hours and I greatly appreciate that.
What are some of the goals you hope to get out of an internship with Cohear?
I hope to be able to see a project through its lifespan, from the initial presentation of the problem to the final solution being actively implemented. Additionally, I would also like to gain the professional enrichment that would come out of this experience.
What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Leadership-oriented, goal-driven, passionate
What are the three words you would use to describe Cohear?
Community-based, solution-driven, dedicated
Do you have a favorite travel destination?
I do not currently, but I’m looking forward to future trips that i’ll be embarking on.
How about your favorite movie or TV show?
My favorite movie is the Twilight series (all of them).
Anything else you want to add or share about yourself?
I’m really excited to be working with Cohear and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
